It is an honor and responsibility to care for patients. In recognition of this responsibility, Emory and other PA programs have expectations of their students and graduates. Please spend time reading the linked pages below as you consider applying for training as a PA.

Technical Standards:

Applicants must possess certain skills in order to master the educational content of the Physician Assistant Program at an acceptable level of performance within the time frames both provided in the curriculum and required for professional competence. Please read more.

Competencies for the Physician Assistant Profession:

Graduates of the Emory Physician Assistant Program are expected to be able to meet the Competencies for the Physician Assistant Profession, as developed by the AAPA, ARC-PA, NCCPA and PAEA. Competencies fall into six areas:

Medical Knowledge
Interpersonal and Communication Skills

Systems-Based Practice.

Please view the original Competencies for the Physician Assistant Profession document on the NCCPA.NET website.
